Emiko has a keen interest in planning, environmental and public law, particularly challenging government decisions that are unfair or unreasonable.
Emiko helps clients with advice in relation to bush fire risk management, contaminated sites, and development approvals or refusals. She also assists individuals, businesses and industry groups with preparing submissions to local and State government, including submissions concerning conditions of environmental licences, development applications, and land use conflicts such as noise and amenity impacts.
In addition, Emiko has experience in preparing freedom of information applications and helps clients who need access to information to engage effectively with government agencies.
Prior to studying law, Emiko graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Sustainable Development and a Bachelor of Science in Energy Studies and has experience working for a major engineering consultancy in sustainable urban development including green buildings, sustainable materials and energy efficiency.
Emiko is a committee member of the National Environmental Law Association (WA) and was the 2021 State Conference coordinator. She is also a member of the Asian-Australian Lawyers Association (WA).
